Linda chose a wood-fired hot tub from Shym Saunas for her home in Western Creek, Tasmania. It is our Roundabout stainless steel hot tub lined with premium Western Red Cedar, in the larger 1800 mm size.
The tub sits on a gravel pad at the edge of the garden, among ferns and tree ferns. From the water, the view runs across the forest to the mountain range beyond. It is a quiet place to soak at the end of the day, in any season.

The Roundabout is a round hot tub for 2 to 6 people, and the 1800 mm is the larger of its two sizes. The body is 1.5 mm stainless steel, which stands up to the weather and resists rust and corrosion. Dark PVC staves wrap the outside and help keep the water warm for longer. Inside, Western Red Cedar finishes give the tub a warm look and feel.
An integrated wood-fired heater sits inside the tub, behind a timber guard, and a shielded stainless steel flue carries the smoke up and away. There is no pump, filter or control panel to manage. Light the fire, wait, then soak. Linda's tub holds 2000 litres and reaches 38 degrees in about 3 hours.
An insulated, lockable marine grade vinyl cover and a set of steps come with the tub, and both are in place in the photo at the top of the page. An external drain valve under the tub makes it quick to empty and refill, so it works like a normal bath. Without the fire, it can be used as a cold plunge.
Firewood heats the water, so the tub can sit anywhere on the property, away from a power point.
The heater is inside, so there are no hoses or pipes across the ground. The tub needs only the pad it sits on.
