Recently Installed Spruce Barrel Sauna
This recently installed Spruce Barrel Sauna in St Marys, Tasmania is one of our latest Shym Saunas projects. It blends timeless Scandinavian design with modern wellness. Built from premium spruce timber, it highlights natural charm and performance. This handcrafted sauna brings the authentic Finnish sauna tradition into Tasmanian homes.
The barrel shape is more than just a design feature. It’s made for better heat circulation and faster warm-up times. Because of its curved build, air flows evenly, so every session feels relaxing and consistent. In addition, the tight fit between the spruce panels helps retain heat longer, making each sauna session more efficient and comfortable.
Our St Marys client wanted a natural look that blended into their garden while handling Tasmania’s cool weather. To achieve this, we customised the sauna using strong spruce staves that interlock securely. Stainless steel straps hold everything firmly in place, which adds strength and flexibility. As a result, the structure stays solid and well-insulated without needing too many fasteners.
The light tone and smooth grain of spruce create a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Whether used outdoors or indoors, this sauna suits many spaces. It comfortably fits small groups and is perfect for relaxation, detox, or quiet time with family and friends.
Because it’s a prefabricated kit, setup is quick and straightforward. The barrel design keeps the build tight and sturdy for years of use. Meanwhile, the durable spruce wood resists moisture and temperature changes. Therefore, it stays stable and beautiful through all seasons.
Whether placed in a backyard, garden, or wellness space, the Spruce Barrel Sauna Tasmania homeowners love delivers lasting comfort and connection. Each sauna we build enhances relaxation and everyday living while showcasing Shym Saunas’ passion for craftsmanship.
