A cold plunge tub on its own is a tub of water that warms up. Paired with a chiller it holds a set temperature all week, which is the difference between plunging when you feel like it and plunging when the ice has arrived.
This package is the oval 304 stainless steel tub and the Beta commercial chiller, sized to each other and bought at one price.
The bowl is pressed and welded as a single vessel in 304 stainless steel, wrapped in 20 mm of nitrile rubber insulation and clad in 18 mm PVC board. Two stainless bands pull the whole thing tight.
There is no liner to crease or leak, and the insulation is what lets the chiller hold temperature without running all day.
The Beta is a commercial unit, not a domestic add on. It cools at 2.7 kW and takes water down to 3 degrees, and it also heats at 3.0 kW up to around 38 degrees if you want to run contrast sessions from the same tub.
A 30 litre per minute pump moves the water, and it runs off a standard 220 to 240 volt outlet.
Control is a touch panel on the unit and a WiFi app on Android or iOS. Set the temperature once and it holds it.
In practice that means the tub is a thing you use rather than a thing you prepare. No bags of ice, no half hour of waiting, and nothing to reset between sessions.
The fitted cover sits down over the rim in two halves, so you fold one back rather than lifting the whole thing off.
Left on, it keeps leaves, rain and light out, and keeps the cold in. Every hour the cover holds the temperature is an hour the chiller is not working for it.
The chiller has to suit the tub it is cooling. An undersized unit never reaches temperature on a warm week and runs constantly trying; an oversized one is money spent on capacity the tub cannot use. These two are matched, so neither problem arises.
Buying them as a package is also cheaper than buying the two listings separately, and they arrive on the one consignment.
Set the temperature once. It holds it, so there is no preparing the tub before you use it.
The running cost is electricity, not bags of ice every session.
