The Cilindro PC70E is a floor-standing pillar heater rated at 6.8 kW for sauna rooms of 6 to 10 m³. Its tall cylindrical body holds up to 90 kg of sauna stones, so heat is stored in a large stone mass and released as soft, steady warmth, with steam produced when water is thrown onto the stones.
With a footprint of only 320 x 320 mm and a height of 930 mm, the heater takes up very little floor area. It can be embedded into a bench or placed in front of a glass wall as a feature, and the black steel exterior keeps the look modern and understated.
The PC70E can be wired two ways. On a 400 V 3N~ three-phase supply it takes 3 x 10 A fuses and a 5 x 1.5 mm² cable, with 30 mm of clearance beneath the heater. On a 230 V 1N~ single-phase supply it takes a 1 x 35 A fuse and a 3 x 6 mm² cable, with 50 mm of clearance beneath the heater. The arrangement is chosen at installation by your licensed electrician and depends on the supply available at the property.
This is an “E” model, so there are no switches or thermostat on the heater itself. It must be paired with a separate Harvia control unit, which is sold separately and powers the heater through a control panel for temperature and on-time control. The temperature sensor and its 5 m cable are supplied with the heater. Sauna stones are not included and are required for correct operation.

The Harvia Cilindro PC70E 6.8 kW Black Steel Sauna Heater is a floor-standing pillar heater finished in black steel, rated at 6.8 kW for sauna rooms of 6 to 10 m³. The tall cylindrical body holds up to 90 kg of sauna stones, so the heat is stored in a large stone mass and released as soft, steady warmth rather than a short sharp burst.
The pillar form gives you freedom in how the sauna is laid out. The heater is only 320 mm wide and 320 mm deep but stands 930 mm tall, so it claims very little floor area for the amount of stone it carries. It can be positioned near a wall with the required 100 mm clearances, placed in front of a glass panel where the black steel exterior becomes part of the interior, or embedded into a bench, where the published safety distances still apply.

No controls on the heater: The PC70E is an “E” model. The heater body carries no switches, timer or thermostat, and it cannot be operated on its own.
A separate Harvia control unit is required: A separate Harvia control unit is required and is sold separately. The control units we offer with this heater are shown in the options on this page. The control unit powers the heater and connects to a control panel that gives you control over temperature and on-time. The range of features varies depending on the control unit selected.
Temperature sensor is included: The temperature sensor is supplied in the box with the heater and has a 5 m cable. It is wall-mounted as standard. If the heater is installed more than 100 mm from the wall, the sensor must be mounted on the ceiling instead. The supply air vent must not be positioned so that the airflow cools the sensor.
Not the same as the PC70: The Harvia Cilindro PC70 (item number HPC700400M) is controlled by manual switches. If that is the arrangement you are after, choose that model instead of the PC70E.
Sauna stones: Stones are not included. This heater takes up to 90 kg of sauna stones sized Ø5 to 10 cm, and they are required for correct operation.
The PC70E is an “E” model. There are no switches, dial or thermostat on the heater body. It is powered and controlled by a separate Harvia control unit, sold separately, which connects to a control panel for temperature and on-time settings. Depending on the control unit chosen, the available features can include lighting and ventilation adjustment, a week timer, parental control, a PIN code lock, remote switch-on and a door safety switch. The temperature sensor and its 5 m cable are supplied with the heater, along with the fastening kit and the installation and operating instructions.
The same heater runs on 400 V 3N~ three-phase (3 x 10 A, 5 x 1.5 mm², 30 mm clearance beneath the heater) or on 230 V 1N~ single phase (1 x 35 A, 3 x 6 mm², 50 mm clearance beneath the heater), so it suits properties with either supply.
The 6.8 kW output is sized for mid-range home sauna rooms with a minimum room height of 1900 mm. That range assumes insulated, panelled walls and ceiling. Add 1.2 m³ to the room volume for every square metre of non-insulated surface such as glass, brick, glass block, concrete or tile, and multiply the volume by 1.5 if the room has log walls. Harvia's own example: a 10 m³ room with a glass door needs the output of about a 12 m³ room, which is past the top of this heater's range.
Pairing the heater with a separate Harvia control unit gives you temperature and on-time control from a control panel, with further functions depending on the control unit you choose.
The heater weighs 7.7 kg before stones are added, is levelled upright on its adjustable legs, and is then fixed to the sauna structure using the supplied fixing hardware.

The floor under and around the heater must be heat resistant. Hot pieces of stone can damage floor coverings and are a fire risk.
The heater can be embedded into a sauna bench. The safety distances above still apply, including the 520 x 520 mm bench opening.
Always follow the safety distances and installation requirements given in the installation and operating instructions supplied with the heater. Installation and connection, including the choice between the three-phase and single-phase arrangements, must be carried out by a licensed electrician working to that manual and to the current wiring rules.

Piling of the Sauna Stones
Properly arranging sauna heater stones is essential for safe and efficient operation. Follow these guidelines:Heater Maintenance
Sauna stones can disintegrate due to temperature fluctuations. Rearrange the stones at least annually, or more often with frequent sauna use. Remove any disintegrated stones from the bottom of the heater and replace them with new ones to maintain optimal heating and prevent overheating. Pay particular attention to the stones settling over time and make sure no heating elements become visible. Stones settle most rapidly within two months of piling, so it is worth checking the stone space again a couple of months after the heater is first filled.Heating Your Sauna with Harvia Sauna Heater
When using the heater for the first time, both the heater and the stones may emit odours. Ventilate the sauna room efficiently to remove them. If the heater output matches the size of the sauna room, a properly insulated sauna will take about an hour to reach the desired bathing temperature. The sauna stones typically reach this temperature at the same time as the sauna room. A suitable temperature for the sauna room is about 65 to 75 °C.Rated IPX4 for interior wet areas, the heater runs at 50/60 Hz and carries CE and EAC certification. Sauna stones are not included and are required for the heater to work correctly.
